About the event

Chambers Trade Academy

As part of our commitment to support businesses in Greater Manchester to navigate their international trade journey, we are pleased to launch a series of free virtual sessions in partnership with a selected group of UK Chambers across the country. The purpose of these sessions is to provide general insights into exporting, importing, customs as well as keep traders up to date with the latest changes in regulations and provide tips on how to grow globally.

About the Session

In this 60 minute session we will provide an brief introduction to the new EU Regulation CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) which enter into force at the end of 2023.  This is a policy tool designed to address carbon leakage and ensure that the price of carbon emissions is consistent both within the EU and on imported goods. CBAM targets imports of specific goods and sectors that are at high risk of carbon leakage. Initially, this includes cement, iron and steel, aluminum, fertilizers, and electricity.

The EU CBAM will have direct impact on UK Exporters dealing with EU Importers, who are responsible to produce reports to their local regulatory authorities. From monitoring, tracking and information keeping across the wider supply chain,  UK companies must understand the impact this may have in their existing processes and systems to help their EU counterparts remain compliant.

Speakers:

Conor Monaghan, Customs Complete
