About the event

The way low-value goods enter the European Union is changing.

From 1 July 2026, the EU introduced a new €3 customs duty on low-value consignments valued up to €150 entering the EU from outside the bloc. The change removes the previous duty exemption and introduces new considerations for businesses exporting goods directly to EU customers.

The new duty applies based on product categories/tariff classifications rather than simply per parcel, meaning shipments containing different types of goods could face multiple charges. For example, a parcel containing products under different tariff headings may attract multiple €3 charges.

While the change is aimed largely at addressing the growth of low-value e-commerce imports, it will also impact UK businesses selling products directly into EU markets, including online retailers, brands and SMEs.
