A supply chain is the entire network involved in producing and delivering a product or service—from raw materials to the hands of the customer.

When sending goods overseas or purchasing from abroad, An international supply chain is the series of steps and networks that connect global businesses, suppliers, manufacturers, logistics providers, Wholesalers and retailers to deliver products across countries.


Many roles are involved in a supply chain:

  • The supplier: Providing raw materials (e.g. cotton, steel, silicon).

  • The manufacturer: Tuning the materials into products.

  • Logistics providers: Handles storage, inventory, and transportation. Includes freight companies, warehouse operators, and customs agents.
