The UK government has announced the return of International Trade Week 2025, set to run from 3rd–7th November, with the aim of helping more British businesses expand overseas and strengthen the country’s export performance.
Organised by the Department for Business and Trade, the week-long programme will feature workshops, webinars, and networking events designed to give firms practical guidance on exporting, navigating trade regulations, and identifying new growth markets.
Ministers said the initiative reflects the government’s drive to “get businesses exporting and grow the economy,” particularly in light of recent trade headwinds facing UK companies in global markets.
Support for Exporters Across Sectors
Events will cover a range of industries, from manufacturing and agri-food to services and technology, with tailored sessions addressing sector-specific challenges. Businesses will also receive insights into leveraging new trade agreements such as the UK’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the recently signed UK–India trade deal.
Trade bodies are also expected to play a major role. Organisations such as Made in Britain will use the platform to engage businesses on critical issues like rules of origin compliance, which can make or break export competitiveness in new and existing trade agreements.
Spotlight on Services Trade
Economists have urged policymakers to place greater emphasis on services exports, which account for roughly 60% of the UK’s total exports but are often underrepresented in trade deal design. Several International Trade Week sessions will therefore focus on digital trade, financial services, and professional services, areas in which the UK enjoys a global competitive advantage.
Looking Ahead
International Trade Week comes at a critical time for exporters, as rising global trade policy uncertainty and shifting tariff regimes weigh on business confidence. By providing a platform for knowledge-sharing and practical support, the government hopes the initiative will encourage more firms to take their products and services to international markets.
Businesses can register for events via the Department for Business and Trade’s website, with both virtual and in-person sessions available nationwide. We will keep you posted on all upcoming events in the not too distant future!
