Disruption of UK supply chains due to Brexit red tape

A recent article from ‘The Independent’ describes how Brexit red tape disrupts supply chains as key parts and components for British products, such as cars and fridges, could fall into ‘legal limbo’.

Trade is already facing other challenges such as the shortage of HGV drivers which have led to empty shelfs in supermarkets. Under the new EU-UK TCA, whilst there was an effort to remain close to the EU’s product regulations and safety standards, the reality is that many products now need to conform with two set of standards - the UK's and EU’s - with manufacturing companies now needing for instance CE and UKCA markings when placing products in the EU or UK markets respectively.

Check the full article from The Independent here which includes comments from the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), Confederation of British Industry (CBI), Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), Institute of Directors (IOD) and Make UK.
