Introduction to Ergo Europe & New Opportunities in India for UK Businesses

The recently signed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the United Kingdom and India, led

by the Prime Ministers of both countries, marks a major milestone in international trade. This landmark agreement is expected to unlock significant new opportunities for UK businesses looking to engage with one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.

The agreement is currently undergoing the ratification process in the parliaments of both

countries, with implementation anticipated by Spring 2026.

With substantial reductions in tariffs and duties across a broad range of goods and services, this is an ideal time for UK companies to explore opportunities in India or strengthen their existing presence in the market.

To prepare businesses and help them to take advantage of these opportunities, Ergo Europe has developed a regional strategy aimed at providing practical guidance and local support across the UK.

As part of this initiative, Ergo Europe is establishing India Desks across key regions of the UK in partnership with regional Chambers of Commerce, with active support from the Department for Business & Trade (FTA Utilisation) and the High Commission of India.

We have already established three India Desks in various regions and will be launching several more in the coming months to ensure that businesses can access support locally.

In addition, we are working closely with the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce to

guide and support businesses interested in entering or expanding within the Indian market.

The India Desk will serve as a single-window platform for businesses seeking to engage with India providing access to the right information, guidance on the most appropriate market entry structures, and trusted on-the-ground support. This integrated approach will help significantly increase the chances of success for UK businesses in India.
