Letters of Credit are a vital tool for securing payment, especially in high-risk markets. But they must be structured correctly from the outset. That’s where we come in:

• Contract & Invoice Review: We review your sales contract or pro forma invoice and provide a tailored LC template for your buyer.

• LC Draft Review & Revision: When your buyer returns a draft LC, we check it thoroughly and suggest revisions to ensure it’s workable and compliant.

• Routing of the LC: We have many contacts with UK banks that are in the market for providing LC confirmations. We know which UK banks have appetite to confirm your LC. These are usually not the high street banks, some of whom are withdrawing from this market. By identifying a suitable UK based confirming bank we can maximise security and efficient payment. You do not need to bank with the LC confirming bank.

• Logistics & Document Control: We can arrange freight and ensure the movement document is in our hands as soon as goods are shipped - critical for compliance, or we can work with your nominated freight forwarder.

• Document Preparation & Bank Presentation: Our highly qualified team prepares and presents documents to the advising and confirming banks on your behalf – and then chases them! Our presentations are consistently accepted and paid—because we get it right the first time.

  
  

2. Pre-Shipment Finance

Need funds to pay a supplier of the goods, or the parts needed to assemble it? If you can arrange for a confirmed LC to be issued in your favour, we can help:

• Finance Secured by Export LC: We offer pre-shipment finance backed by your confirmed LC.

• Supplier Payments via Import LC: We can issue an import LC on your behalf to purchase the goods.

• Direct Supplier Payments: If we’re confident in your supplier’s credentials, we may make a direct payment to get the transaction moving.

While many banks have stepped away from “back-to-back” LC facilities, we still offer them—because we know how valuable they can be.

Revolving Import Facilities

Our revolving import facility gives you the buying power to meet demand without tying up cash:

• Supplier Payments via LC: Our preferred method is to issue a letter of credit in favour of the supplier under our general banking facilities.

• Flexible Approach: If the supplier needs a “TT” payment and has a strong track record, we may agree to pay against copies of shipment documents.

• Supplier Negotiation Support: We can liaise directly with your supplier to agree terms that work for everyone.
