The cost of inaccuracy - How precise weights keep Export Documentation moving

At Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, accuracy and constancy is critical when we process Export Documentation. It is a key part of our checks to ensure the weights and measurements stated in your application match the supporting evidence provided.

When processing Certificates of Origins and EUR1’s, one of the key criteria we verify is accuracy of the weights and other measurements. These details are found in Box 7 of the Certificate of Origin and Box 9 of the EUR1.

These details must exactly match the information found in the supporting documentation.

Examples of common errors:

·       The rounding of a figure – for example the application stating the Gross Weight is 1.5kg but the invoice states the Gross Weight is 1.51kg

·       The including of dimensions of packages instead of the cubed figure

We know the current process can be time – consuming, but it’s a vital part of keeping our operations accurate, we want our process to run smoothly and ensure our members and the wider community are happy.

We are here to help you navigate these requirements with confidence.
