Updated: Jul 15

Are you planning to exhibit at Anuga 2025 in Cologne, Germany, from October 4-8, 2025? This world-leading trade fair for food and beverages offers an unparalleled opportunity for your business. To ensure your participation is seamless and cost-effective, remember a crucial document: the ATA Carnet.

Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce's Export Documentation team is here to assist you with the ATA Carnet application, ensuring your exhibition materials clear customs efficiently, thus allowing you to focus on securing valuable business opportunities.

What is an ATA Carnet and Why is it Essential for Anuga?

An ATA Carnet is an international customs document that acts as a "passport for goods." It allows for the temporary, duty-free, and tax-free importation of items like exhibition materials, samples, and professional equipment into foreign countries for up to one year. For Anuga, this means you can avoid paying import duties and taxes (like VAT) on your products and displays when entering Germany, saving you significant time and money. It streamlines customs procedures, eliminating complex paperwork and costly deposits.

UK Food & Drink Exports: The Global Opportunity

The UK's food and drink sector is a vital economic driver. In 2024, total UK Food, Feed and Drink exports reached £24.6 billion. While challenges exist, particularly post-pandemic, opportunities in non-EU markets are growing, with Q1 2025 seeing a 10.5% increase in exports to these regions. Beverages consistently lead, reaching over £8.1 billion in export value in 2024.

Anuga itself highlights this global potential, with its last edition hosting approximately 7,900 exhibitors from 118 nations and 140,000 visitors from 200 countries, 94% of exhibitors and 80% of visitors being international. This makes Anuga a prime platform for British companies to expand their global reach.
